Isn't your Sherpes an Autosleeper? Our CF had entirely different front seats that were part of the Autosleeper package - albeit for all I know, they may have used standard frames. I think pics might help with this one.

The frames look like modified type 2 mgb seats. The diaphragms seem to be mgb as well.

I suspect you are right Ian. I might call one of the classic camper restoration specialists. If that doesn't work ill call autosleeper.

They are similar to maxi seats in size and the way they go flat.

I need a new diaphragm for the drivers seat but might try ebbing if I can't find one. The covers are a bit damaged where years if toenails have snagged the velour. I suspect the best fix will be to sew up some loose covers to go over these and change the rear cushions and curtains whilst at it.

If you ask SAAB for a seat diaphragm for the C900 they give you a wire frame and a load of springs, it works a lot better than the original.

cher Richard.

I contacted Autosleeper on the off chance that they might have some old parts/blueprints lying around - but mostly to confirm that the seats were bespoke.

sure enough they were bespoke for the vehicle and a special commission from a coach fitters. Sadly the coach fitter went out of business 20 years ago...oh and they had no parts or old plans for this vintage of van...

well, at least i know.

So what I will do now is to restore the seats - I'll replace the diaphragm - I'll price the Saab ones but am doing this on a budget so am likely to go down the bailer twine route. I'll also give the frames a sand down and a nice coat of hammerite and grease all the mechanisms and replace any tired springs.
