Citroen HDi cambelts

I seem to be getting a 'free' X-plate Xsara HDi 2.0 fairly soon. I plan to put a new cambelt + water pump on it before pressing it into service - does anyone know if this is a nightmareish prospect? is it any more difficult than an older XUD engine? I've done a few of those and they were pretty straightforward.

Less space to work on them, and a few more things in the way. Not sure if you need a SEEM tension gauge or not though.

Same procedure as the XUD, except it's a manual tensioner and you don't have to lock the fuel pump. You're supposed to use a tension gauge but I think a man of your calibre should be able to get the tension right without one.

I'm told the HDi is designed to survive a belt failure, but it does that by breaking rockers so it's still not handy.

Change the alternator multi V belt aswell. The outer edge usually shreds and the shredded piece of rubber more often than not ends up behind the cambelt cover. It then gets underneath the cambelt making the belt jump a few teeth resulting in a minimum of two broken rockers.
