Can we move all this political bollocks to the grumpy old man thread - its not as of anybody's very happy about the Budget

As for public sector pay well I work in the private sector and the company I work for has been on a pay freeze for the last 3 years so it's about time the public sector took on their share.

I'm in the public sector and thanks to Single Status Job Evaluation I have been moved into a lower payscale, effectively meaning I can't earn nearly £2K/annum that I would have been due through incremental progression. I would still be earning a few grand less than the private sector rate for my job even if I could have reached that. The pay was also frozen for the year at that time. Luckily, I easily earn a low enough wage to qualify for that £250 to cover two years (which wouldn't even cover the increment I would have been due, so it just makes it slightly less of a wage cut than before - that's even before you work out any potential wage increase). I'm also very likely to be facing statutory redundancy in the next year or two, with a package which will is probably going to comprise of about a month's pay (if I'm lucky). Does it get me slightly riled when private sector workers think I'm on some kind of gravy train? Possibly.

Anyway, I reckon I've taken on enough for the private sector, so ultimately I get my dole through I'm going to spend all day watching repeats of Man About The House in my bathrobe. The only private sector people who will benefit from me are scratchcard companies and the off-licence.

Also agree that we should move it to the Grumpy thread, old car tax ultimately wasn't mentioned so there's not much point it being here I suppose.
