I had to laugh today at the news story of a right-on peace activist who was doing a walk from Bristol to India with no money to highlight his chosen cause, and hoping to be totally reliant on the milk of human kindness for all requirements of his intrepid venture such as shelter and food. He apparently got a far as northern France and had to return home starving hungry, cold and damp because he couldn't speak a word of French

I enjoyed that too. The French certainly had the measure of him...
