A simple feel good rust repair

Set about doing a service on my dad's Jaguar and as I took off the belly pan to drop the oil I was met with this.

It's one of the few spots that rust on these as it's obviously not aluminium and also theres some sound proofing on the undertray that traps water up against it. I was nervous to prod at it but I thought it's either gone or it's still solid underneath and I can either stop the rust or let it run. I therefore gave it a good wire wheeling and screwdrivering and thankfully I was met with this.

No holes and plenty of good metal left I then gave it a good few coats of rust converter.

Finally the. Finished with some waxoyl.

Whilst I was in there I zapped a few bits and same process on some of the other areas of the subframe though they were very much at the start of the rusting process. I should point out I took off the sound proofing from the belly pan. The one downside of this car not having any oil leaks.

All in a very easy, satisfying job that means a good car stays that way. I don't get many of these easy wins now hence the sharing! Happy spannering.
