I wonder if...............[Maxi content]

In my experience, most cars which have the engine out for some "crazy" swap tend to have a vacant engine bay for the rest of their life. I dread seeing topics on car forums where people have similar plans, because the last thing you tend to see is a picture of the engine yanked out on a crane and all these big plans to fit some absurd engine they haven't even bought yet. After this initial burst of enthusiasm, it usually sits around for a few years until the novelty has completely worn off and presumably then gets weighed in because their mum wants it off the driveway. On that basis, I'd go with Mr B's option!

Why not just not bother with the supercharged V6 Perkins prima and 6-speed sequential 4-motion transmission, and drive it around enjoying the mediocre E-series engine and wobbly gearchange. Thats what I would do.

Here, here!, I think the engine is a much as part of a cars character as the body and interior e.t.c.I drive my Maxi almost daily and I don't find it particularly thirsty and it more than keeps up with modern day traffic. Even the gearbox is not bad once you get used to it.Pete.
