Replacing ATF question - Toyota MR2

Sounds like 3.3 litres in yer actual gearbox and the remaining 4.7 litres in the torque converter.Seems a bit of a waste of time replacing less than half the oil but unless you run the engine the 'box won't pump it out of the torque converter and that is most unwise. So there's you answer, fluid stays in the converter until it is pumped round the 'box.Unless you take the gearbox out and remove the torque converter then drain and refill.

Drain 3.3 litres out, and refill with the same. There should be a drain plug on the side. If it's the same as FWD gearboxes, it should be over a specific level which is 'maximum'.
