grizz Posted October 26, 2025 Author Posted October 26, 2025 You will notice the circular saw enquiry in the chat list has dropped to the bottom of the page, and the list continues below it.Β Β Seriously, at this point, I would vote for selective sterilisation and neutering. grizz Posted October 26, 2025 Author Posted October 26, 2025 Β Remember that little shed in the garden? Β My circular saw that I had used is small, and had sustained some damage to the βtableβ at some point.Β Β Either me or someone else had dropped it before.Β Β Using it to cut railroad ties or sleepers and other big timber stuff had shown the 75mm plunge depth and motor size to be good but both frustrating and inaccurate for some jobs.Β Β I always keep my eyes on marketplace and various for sale sections online on forums.Β Β Yesterday I bought a new to me, Bosch GKS85 Professional circular saw.Β Β Advertisement said Β£50.00Β Looking at his other items showed random stuff, mainly furniture and household stuff.Β Β His description: Have no use for it, just sitting in storage not being used. Collection only.Β Β One photo.Β Β I couldnβt see if it was a 110V or 230VΒ machine as online shows both options.Β Β Messaged him and got one photo reply.Β Β Clearly not very interested in selling it.Β Β So I asked him if he would entertain a cheeky offer, to which his response was Β£40.00 was the lowest he would go (I had hoped for a Β£45.00 offer as it was 15 miles away, offsetting my diesel driving there) but happy to pay the Β£50.00 as it seemed hardly used.Β Β So I fetched the saw, and went to get some food shopping done. Again doubling up on the trip.Β Β Looking at itβs plastics and table, it looks unused. Maybe itβs had one small job through it.Β Β Came home, excited to see how it wentβ¦β¦Β Plugged in into a kitchen outletβ¦β¦ Tried to start it thereβ¦.. Not workingβ¦β¦ Buggerβ¦..!!Β Nextβ¦.? Β Β Off to the garage once I had unpacked the food and had a coffee.Β Β Removed the 13A fuse from the wall socket plug and rummaged around in my electrical fuse tray.Β Β Found one, fitted it.Β Β Plugged inβ¦.,,,Β Β Success.Β Β Β I have to say, this is a 2000W and 285mm blade saw.Β It is big, heavy.Β Certainly a two handed saw this.Β The old one does work single handedΒ Β Β Looking forward to the next woodworking project.Β Β Β I was going to sell or give the old one away, but couldnβt do it in good faith knowing it is not accurate.Β Β So I will keep it for hacking jobs, like timber pallets etc.Β Β Looks like prices range wildlyΒ Β .
