Did some woodworking over the weekend.

She is a widow and we spoke on video for an hour last week.

 

I made her some things for the home bar with his name and also a sign for her gardening allotment. Had to go buy some Gorilla glue as both my bottles of wood glue had dried up. On the way back….. inside the tunnel. Stop. Engine off. Bugger. Idiots. 

 

She arrived with a bag of gem squash for me.

 

Loved the things  made for her.

 

Perfect exchange.

 

She rides three bikes, Harley Fat Boy, Yamaha Fazer, Suzuki Burgman.

 

George was very taken with her too, spending 30 minutes on her lap.

You will be pleased to know that I am hoping to get a complete, £50.00 towbar for my 1.5 diesel Scenic collected by @CraigRK next week when he comes down from Shropshire to visit. 
 

Hopefully we will get it fully fitted and wired up.  Which will solve my volume carrying capacity problem, which is why I have been looking out for something a bit bigger. 
 

My neighbour has 24/7 access to a long bed, scaffolding Transit pickup that he has offered to me, should I need a big rig. 
 

My 5 foot trailer along with the Scenic should work really well.

Random flashback to 2018

Chevy Blazer needed some help. 
 

13 years abandoned on someone’s driveway. 
 

After much cutting out rust, welding, and rebuilding the suspension, brakes etc with new parts as well as getting the interior and exterior tidy…… I sold it. 
 

But I think it was a great car and often forgot how much work it took.

Remember that little shed in the garden?

 

My circular saw that I had used is small, and had sustained some damage to the “table” at some point. 

 

Either me or someone else had dropped it before. 

 

Using it to cut railroad ties or sleepers and other big timber stuff had shown the 75mm plunge depth and motor size to be good but both frustrating and inaccurate for some jobs. 

 

I always keep my eyes on marketplace and various for sale sections online on forums. 

 

Yesterday I bought a new to me, Bosch GKS85 Professional circular saw. 

 

Advertisement said £50.00 

Looking at his other items showed random stuff, mainly furniture and household stuff. 

 

His description:

Have no use for it, just sitting in storage not being used. Collection only. 

 

One photo. 

 

I couldn’t see if it was a 110V or 230V machine as online shows both options. 

 

Messaged him and got one photo reply. 

 

Clearly not very interested in selling it. 

 

So I asked him if he would entertain a cheeky offer, to which his response was £40.00 was the lowest he would go (I had hoped for a £45.00 offer as it was 15 miles away, offsetting my diesel driving there) but happy to pay the £50.00 as it seemed hardly used. 

 

So I fetched the saw, and went to get some food shopping done. Again doubling up on the trip. 

 

Looking at it’s plastics and table, it looks unused. Maybe it’s had one small job through it. 

 

Came home, excited to see how it went…… 

Plugged in into a kitchen outlet……

Tried to start it there…..

Not working……

Bugger…..!! 

Next….?

 

 

Off to the garage once I had unpacked the food and had a coffee. 

 

Removed the 13A fuse from the wall socket plug and rummaged around in my electrical fuse tray. 

 

Found one, fitted it. 

 

Plugged in….,,, 

 

Success. 

 

 

I have to say, this is a 2000W and 285mm blade saw. 

It is big, heavy. 

Certainly a two handed saw this. 

The old one does work single handed 

 

 

Looking forward to the next woodworking project. 

 

 

I was going to sell or give the old one away, but couldn’t do it in good faith knowing it is not accurate. 

 

So I will keep it for hacking jobs, like timber pallets etc. 

 

Looks like prices range wildly

I couldn’t do filler or primer bodywork this week or today because it’s 50’F or 10’C outside and a keen breeze continues to blow my plans up. 

 

Earlier this week I had gotten some filming done but did miss out on a days dent redemption. 

 

A fair bunch of the dents and damage is up  high on the bedside and has various obstructions in the way.  

 

So I improved a lot of the horrendously done in America before export, repairs and next step is drum sander and primer. 

Followed by fiberglass filler and loads of repeat repeat repeat work. 

 

I managed to get some really good, visually descriptive footage in the short video. 

 

Pics hopefully describe the rest.  

 

If anyone wants to create an emotional sympathy filled Go Fund Me and ship me a couple of rear bedsides, please don’t feel that I may be unthankful.

With all the large flat surfaces you are working with, might be an idea to look for a longbed sander, air powered to reduce some of the slog
