I tried a few of these whilst at uni (transport design) and really didn't get on with them at all, so went back to what I've always done, drawing stuff with pens then scanning and colouring in with photoshop - much cheaper in the long run :D

Good question. I'm considering a NYR of properly learning how to do decent graphics/website design based stuff on the old computer for 2010, but not sure where to start. Photoshop, Dreamweaver etc have been around for ages but are they still the best of should I be looking at something newer? I'd like to be able to design anything on the computer from collages to websites but talking to folk in the know they all give me different advice, based on their own experiences, and a lot of it conflicts. Never even heard of these kind of tablets either!

- exactly the same method as me! but I'm hopefully going to be trying out one of these tablets in the next month of so. I think the ideal is to have one with the highest amount of pressure levels but like I say , I ain't tried yet..

I 'borrowed' an A3 Wacom from work when made redundant (which I forgot to give back, silly me), which is top notch, but is too big. Size isn't important, I have an old A5 tablet which is just as worthy. If she is into art, try and get a Wacom, they have a sh*tload of settings, you draw how the pen is positioned.

Get her an etch-a-sketch. Sounds like the same thing.

I've found that's the common way of using one - I've never heard of someone line drawing using one. :) I coloured this using it! :D
