‘Evening all, my membership to these hallowed halls has been approved, so I thought I would say hi.

I haven’t owned any truly classic shite but I will give you a quick run down of my shite (and not so) CV with pics if I can find them.

I passed my test in 2002, my first car was –

Mk4 Escort estate E plate IIRC, cost £150 no stereo and the added extra of mould growing on the back seats and up the window due to floor pan rot and leaking sunroof. It started running on three cylinders and kicking out loads of black smoke so got traded in.

Rover 414si on an H, head gasket had gone so I got it for £50, (a swap for the escort). I sorted (bodged more likely) the hg myself and sold it onto a Polish chap for £700. This car made me realise I am not a fan of revvy engines, much prefer low down torque.

MK2 Fiesta 1300 Ghia, I loved this car full XR2 interior and handled well IMHO. 1 lady owner from new. One slight problem was the water leak, which I traced to a hole drilled in the roof for a CB aerial and not plugged properly. The whole roof skin was rotten under the headlining.

My next cars were all moderns, Skoda Fabia; Skoda Octavia then got bored and went back to shite.

Seat Cordoba 1.9 Tdi R plate, great car loved it definitely a future classic but my wife decided to boot it on a wet roundabout and stuffed it into a kerb bending the front suspension, so I traded it in .

MK 3 Astra Estate R plate, a very late MK3 but one car that I truly hated, worthy but oh so very dull. Got bored so made my biggest car buying mistake ever.

Citroen Berlingo 1.9 D 51 plate, I should never have bought it what a crock of shit, problems from day one never ever again.

From then on it has all been moderns for me after the Berlingo I had a Skoda Fabia Estate and my present car a Skoda Octavia 1.9 Tdi MK2.

I had to get my shite fix from somewhere so when the wife passed her test in 2005 her first car was a Ford Orion MK2 rescued from a scrappy for £50 and MOT’d the same day and passed! This she wrapped round a lamppost so along came her next car a Skoda Felicia 1.6. This has been a great car in the last 3 years it has only needed a battery and no advisories on the MOT. Then last year she drove it into the back of a stationary brand new Vauxhall Astra. £5000 worth of damage (according to the insurance company) and I fixed the Felicia for £160 of parts from the scrappy.
