"Sweeney" Actors

Slightly odd topic here, but certainly car related.... Most of us love watching the old episodes of "The Sweeney" and other programmes of that ilk. John Thaw (God rest his soul) and Dennis Waterman both went on to loads of other TV work, as did many of the other actors, with what I think is a notable exception... Reagan's driver, Bill! He's always referred to as "Bill" and occasionally gets involved in some of the "rough stuff" but never really takes part in the programme. I do remember him injuring his ankle playing football with Reagan in one episode, though! I don't think he's even credited at the end of the programme, either! Does anyone know anything about this unsung hero of a great programme?

I read in a great Sweeney book that he wasn't credited at the end, and only got to say about 2 lines in a handful of episodes. An early day 'Soap extra'.
