All 4 of my daughters were taught by the same bloke, I was about to say a young lad called Abdul, until I realised my oldest is 31 so he's been doing for at least 14 years! Anyway he always has something a bit nicer than a Fiesta or summat, BMW 1 and 3 Series, Scirocco, A3 etc.

He doesn't have any signage apart from a little magnetic roof L pyramid and it's his only car, he is always fully booked and for our youngest a couple of years ago we booked her in a year in advance, luckily all mine have passed within a couple of months- he's not cheap!

I bet Abdul's pass rate's pretty good if he's that much in demand. (Either that, or some of his regulars keep failing so keep on going back to him for more lessons before the next fail.)

About 20 years ago I knew a taxi driver who was also a driving instructor , he used the same car for both, complete with dual controls! What super vehicle could possibly excel at both these roles? I hear you ask.

Obviously a Proton.

Dual controls still in place when ferrying folk home from the pub? Lol Bet that was fun!

My first set of lessons on the road was in the instructors 1.6 zetec s fiesta which was quite a nippy thing 13 years ago. When I actually took my test I learnt in a corsa diesel. I have drove the odd Volvo 245 and Granada estate on camp sites when I was a kid. My lads first driving experience was in a 2.0 auto Toyota avensis in Buckingham. Thanks to 6 cylinder for use of field and chaseracer for teaching him. Trouble is now he keeps wanting g to do it again but I panic too much!

I've read somewhere that people salute you and move out of your way if you drive an Audi Q3. Therefore I'll learn to drive in one. Then when I pass my test I'll spend roughly 60% ofy disposable income on borrowing one for 2 years. I expect I'll probably spend time in my kitchen window looking out at it wondering what the other people on the Barrett estate think about my Audi.

You missed a bit.

When I collect it I can put the pictures on DinkedIn, Farcebook and Twatter of my ‘dream car’ so that everyone will be impressed’* and it will be obvious* how successful* I am and what a brilliant* life I have.

Yeah, for example, I didn't take the test. I filled out the form and left it with the examiner.

Also, I didn't merely go to school. I actually went inside. Maybe that made a difference?
