I've just been trying to book an MOT online for my Transit. The site says they only do class 4 (cars and small vans), is the Transit included in this? It's a '95 100 SWB Semi High panel vanAnybody know? Thanks

100 should be class4 (car test), what's the GVW on the V5? The MOT class goes on the weight. Why are you booking online? Can't you ring them? If you ring them, you can ask!

Godd point... I should just call them  I don't have the V5 with me, thanks for the advice though!

They should be able to tell you what class it is from the reg number. I am 99% sure it's a car test.

Thanks. I used to have an 80 which was a normal test but this is the first time I've MOTd the 100 so I thought I'd make sure...

I think 100 refers to 1 ton payload (it's a bit out of my era) it will if they carried the models over from the Mk2.

i am now 100% sure, my mate Muttley is a qualified tester and says the 100 is class4 car test.

A mk3! I reckon there are less of those about than the Mk2s. Nice one on the MOT pass.

Your right about mk3s they seem to have dispeared overnight; round here anyway.

The first of any model doesn't fair well, and commercials less so. In the mid 80s everybody had loadsamoney, they didn't want the old model, wanted a new thing so they go chucked as soon as the Mk4 came in.

FFS.Turned up at the place today:'Oh, it's a diesel...''Yeah...''When was the cambelt last changed?''Dunno''Has it been chacked recently?''No idea, not by me but I've not had it long...''Oh, we can't do the test then until you get it checked'WTF?GR8.Test runs out on Monday, I'm working then too so I've no idea what to do now...

It's for the smoke test - they have to rev the engine up and they don't want to break it. Tell them you'll take responsibility if it does. If they still won't test it find another test station and never go back :)

Is it easy to check the cambelt myself or should I leave it to somebody who knows what they're doing?

Absolutely. Having a cam belt snap on a DI is not a tragic as it sounds, usually it's a case of bent push rods (from experience). They shouldn't have to rev the nuts off it anyway, it's just to make sure it's at the right temp, and then take it up to high revs, but not till it explodes or nowt! Otherwise the MOT would be just er, too expensive to do every year! Just go to another station, I have never been quizzed about the cam belt at mine....
