I've been offered a 4000 mile, ex Fire Brigade Transit van. I think it's a '93 SWB but haven't seen it yet. Supposedly like new. Is it worth anything? Bloke wants me to make an offer, but I don't have a clue what it's worth.

You mean Mk5? As in 1993? Not really any idea, given it's condition! could be worth a bit though, it's a bit after my era. If it's got good non rusty arches it will be a rare thing! i take it you mean UK fire brigade, not LHD German.....

Sorry that should say Mk4 (92-95), Mk3 was 86-91. Hmm, as I said it's a bit outside my era and given it's near mint would be hard to price. Try the Ford Transit Forum, I am not into this modern stuff ! www.fordtransit.org the good news is that up to Mk5 seems to be holding their value better than the later stuff! Get some pics, it would help.

This Mk5 (slightly newer) is 3 grand, and a LWB. Higher mileage though. So swings and roundabouts.

Mk5s are considered to be the last of the reliable transits, before Ford got involved with stupid microchips and the dreaded DMF.
