I went to have a look at this today. Old boy's owned it from new and looked after it himself. The interior is spotless, but the rest of it has a few minor issues. The exhaust is shagged, the sills need welding (although the rest of the underside is spot on), the rear arches need tidying and the osr door and nsr quarter need a respray. The engine starts on the button but smokes (although this could be due to the length of time it's been laid up).

 

So basically for an MoT it will need at least an exhaust, welding to sills and the brakes servicing, and then to make it tidy it'll need a partial respray, which will have to be done professionally really as it's a metallic. And it'll probably need a cambelt as the one on it is likely to be perished. Once that's done it'll be a nice, clean and very rare car, but that doesn't mean it's worth a fortune, especially as it's done 108K miles. Does anyone who knows more about Japs than I do have any idea what it's worth in its current state? I have a figure in my head, which is somewhat lower than what I think the seller is after, but I'm not sure whether it's my figure that is too low or his that is too high.

 

On another note, plenty of shite out and about today between here and Colchester. Star spots were a barried Lancia White Hen in Colchester, complete with three baseball-capped likely lads inside, and a wonderfully scruffy V reg Ford D series horsebox, which was roaring (literally) down the A14 at an impressive (for a D series) satnav-verified 63mph. I also saw some kind of veteran-looking car in Colchester, which looked a bit like a curved-dash Oldsmobile, but whether it was real or a replica I don't know. It's unusual to see a genuine 100-odd year old car being driven through busy city traffic, I have to say.

I think its about impossible to value, its extraordinarily lovely and if the price is 'too high' there wont be another along soon! From your description it sounds like a project though and as such i'd probably not be able to justify more than about £350 to myself. Keep us posted!

I don't know J-cars value at all. But I would have said something along the lines of Bo11ox's figure too. It might be rare but its going to have a limited market I'd have thought and needs some substantial work to make good. I can't imagine it being worth more than what £1200-1500 once done? And if you were paying pros to do the repairs you're certainly not going to have any change left.

As per MrB's comment...............but!!! I have an overwhelming desire to own a weird jap piece of 70's ness..if I had the space I'd give a grand to get it away from any of the morons that will pimp it up or race it.......a nice subtle 200 bhp and a standard look......... is deffo the way forward

If it was a Datsun 180B or 120Y estate I'd say it'd fetch 6 or 700 quid no probs but Mitsubishis don't ever seem to make much coin. Mr.B is about right I'd reckon and the upper limit I would stretch to maybe as much as £500 but I'd no way go higher than that. I guess one of the reasons Mitsubishis might not make the money is because people actively want and seek cars like Datsun 610's but old Mitsubishi Lancers aren't really on many folks wish list.

Lovely as it is, I agree with around the Bo11ox figure, old Mitsubishi's are a right pain in the ass to get bits for, and seem to also rust obscenely in places you can't first see...

Agreed with all the above really. Once it's 'done' it's only ever going to be £1500 ish so no more than maybe around £500 tops as it stands.Whats the seller think its worth?

I'm not sure it's even make that much. It's uber rare but as an estate it only really appeals to hardcore J-tin fanatics. If it was a two door I've no doubt it's go for lots as that would appeal more to folks who want a modified OJC. It's a shame in a way that it has the later bumpers etc as they spoil the looks somewhat and they're not the most handsome of things in estate form to start with. You could certainly do a lot with it though.

I agree with Ratdat, if it was the 2-door or 4-door it wouldn't hang about, some rally/drift perv would have it I'm sure. If it was a Lancer GSR it'd be worth a fortune probably.I'd pay about £250-300 but that's just me.
