Slightly upmarket shite

Went to the Saltwood Castle open day yesterday. Mainly this was to ogle the amazing castle but there was a definite sub-agenda of taking a look at the remains of Alan Clark's up-market chod.

These old grunt ears are clearly festering in the garage but Is it weird that was kind of hoping to see his knackered old Citroen Mehari, his VW Beetle with a Porsche 356 engine and his knackered old XJ40?

Great! Would love to have had a look round myself. I'm sad enough to know the reg nos off by heart- The beetle (sxa949) would have been interesting to drive, as you say with 356 running gear, and iirc radials on the back and cross plys on the front. The 2cv (hmr***e) I suspect has dissolved. Did you spot the "summer" and "winter" cars ( soft and hard Top late 60s Chevrolet impalas)?

The summer car is in the bottom picture.

Sadly, although the pics don't really show it, they're all "going home" - the DS doesn't look as if it's turned a wheel in years

Remember him driving the DS on telly. "Cars the Star" or some such. He was explaining how useful the trick suspension was when fording streams. This was before the days of little bridges!
