I need a bit of advice with insurance.

As most of you probably know, I own a Rover 420GSi which I'm very happy with, but also keeping standard and cherished.Just down the road there is a BMW 316 'shed' for £250 I like to look of as I have an itch to do something wacky with a car since selling my previous one.My question is, how do I go about insuring both cars as cheaply as possible? Seperate policies or the same one? Do all insurers allow more than one car per policy holder?Either way I'll be ringing up my insurance company tomorrow.Thanks. :)

Maybe get the Rover on a 'classic' policy depending on what mileage you do etc? What is this 'wackiness' of which you speak?

Well it's currently white and 'crusty' round the edges. Has a set of 17" wheels that are worth £150 any day of the week, and I do beleive it's been lowered. So I'd be stripping the rust down to bare metal, red oxide primer, then matte blackThe front windows don't work which I'm pretty sure is the comfort relay behind the glovebox, and the fuel gauge doesn't work (fuel sender unit?)Fix all that. Weld the diff and have some ~£300 drifting malarky.

If it's a 316, good luck with the drifting!Maybe you could build into your plans a dispenser that squirts extra virgin olive oil onto the ground just ahead of the rear wheels. That said, if you find it doesn't suit you, simply advertise it as 'VERY FAST' on ebay, like every other 316 out there - I really don't know what these folk use as their benchmark: the 316 I had would get razzed off by a milkfloat.

I agree, I can't see it lifting the skin off a rice pudding let a lone spin the wheels up under load. But it'll look the part, and I could probably make a bit of a profit off some silly Pistonhead scrote.Anyway Mr. Weasel, any insurance tips? This is probably the best place to ask as nearly everyone owns more than one car. ;)

Almost certainly seperate policies will be best. Very few insurers will put two or more vehicles on one private poilcy (not forgetting Admirals MultiCar policy which is the most expensive scheme known to man it seems).

I am insured with the AA, two cars, two policies, separate NCBs and a 20% discount on the total (I think); it might also be a bit cheaper because I'm a member of their breakdown scheme, but I'm not sure.

I'm on this with mes parents. Our collective bill dropped by about £50 each had we insured the cars separately.I still think her 206CC is a nasty POS though.
