How does that stop the sills rusting from inside out?

Must be a bloody clever pressure washer!

Well, I did say "It won't rust. Much" Mine did need welding, but the bloke who did it said it was the best one he'd seen, and asked me if I washed the underside. When I said that I did, he told me to keep doing it as "it seems to keep the worst of it at bay." He showed me the remains of the sills that he'd chopped out of a newer car - there wasn't a great deal left.

There never is, the insides go first, it usually doesn't show through at the front until there's serious damage inside already.

Rear's sometimes you're lucky with, washing might help there but the underside of the sills is flat anyway so doesn't tend to trap much crap up there.

This is what your normally confronted with when it comes to X type sills. This was what a 2004 giffer owned car looked like under the plastic covers when I pulled them off a fortnight ago. Nice to see this 53 plater bucks the trend.

Some really useful feedback here on these cars and now that they are available at such low prices and with smaller engines than the s type I imagine we will see more of them appearing on this site. If you want a British car with a traditional feel there is very little choice as we see Rovers and MGs beingg scrapped and broken still at an alarming rate.

The larger xj6 and xj8 Jags are starting to move up in price and Vectras are yet to be appreciated much even on autoshite, so where else does the autoshiter with a fondness for Brit shit go, well mk1 focus really are a hoot to drive and do look different and so until the ford scene tax kicks in these are an option or how about the common mans x type, the mondeo. I must admit that before being put onto the x type I had started to notice early mondeos more and more.

I think these are seriously awful in general with a particular hatred for the dashboard and headlights, but I must admith theres an appeal in a smallish V6 4wd motor with a manual box thats not an A4 quattro. Being a 2000's ford product they must be a pretty decent drive. Are all the V6's 4wd?
