Brooklands Books - 35 years.

Just realised it's 35 years since I bought the 'Morris Minor 1948 - 1971' road test book in July 1981 - that I still have. It's a bit dog eared now, as are the others I bought as a shite mad nipper - VW Beetle in 1983 and Mini Cooper in 1984.

I know John Caldeswell the owner of Brooklands and apparently my 1981 Minor book would have been one of the first off the presses.

I've never owned a Minor btw.

Those Brooklands road test collections are good. There were similar ones from another publisher in the mid 90s - Transport Source Books I think, green covers with lots of car pictures on - that covered the more Autoshite end of the vehicular spectrum. I suspect the demand wasn't there as they folded after a short time.

Trevor from Transport Source Books lost heart after a personal tragedy I believe - really nice guy as well.

Sorry to hear that, I had assumed the demand wasn't there. I bought one which had road test for Alpines, Solaras and Tagoras.
