FredTransit Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Ladies and Germs, I give you the neighbours whinge thread! Roll up, roll up, bring out your warped and unreasonable old codgers and your numpties! To start, here's my (recent) run in!Police came round saying one of the vans was not showing tax. After a yes it is, no it isn't five minutes, I went over to see the van had a 1982 tax disc in the window from a shoot I had been on a few days earlier! I had to laugh, but also had to ask if he thought if it had been there since 1982? Not possible anyway seen as it's a B reg (at least I remembered to take off the moody plates!). How sad somebody thought they could get us in trouble! the real disc was in the glovebox BTW.
Karmann Ghiaman Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 It's just not British to grass people up, however awful they might be as neighbours. We've been well aware of all sorts of dodgy activities going on in & around nearby homes down the years, but short of firearms being involved (which did once happen, at least with an airgun), would never blab to the bizzies. Heard of a chap who stopped five minutes on a yellow line in GERMANY (to make a phone call in the days before mobiles) and some old Teutonic trout immediately informed the Polizei! But to me, that's the difference between Britain & the rest of them. Pretty cool being 'in a shoot a few days earlier', FredTransit! And getting the tax disc right for filming. Will we be able to see the show? It's not Howard Marks is it?
FredTransit Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Have a look at the website in my signature, sorry mate I though everybody knows but I am relatively new to this forum.
ashmicro Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Sounds like you were lucky. I narrowly avoided getting pinched for failure to display after my crappy pound shop disk holder fell of the windscreen.
FredTransit Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 It's a £25 fine if memory serves, and it's down on the DVLA as taxed.
CortinaDave Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I got a £90 fine off the plod for failure to display...I had taxed the car online and was waiting on the disc coming through, but needed to use the car and one of the neighbours who hates me for not driving social-climbing 58 plate cars like the rest of the street shopped me in.i rang the plod and explained and told them i could prove i had paid for the tax, but they said "Ah but its failure to DISPLAY not failure to have tax"I was mighty pissed off.
FredTransit Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Well fine (pardon the pun) do me then, oh wait, it's in my Ltd company's name, so maybe you can do them (it)?
