Found some more boffo stuff about Vegas.

GM spent 50 million dollars just to license Wankel engines for Vegas.

  "       "     75 million dollars for the Lordstown Assembly plant for the car.

When they got going, 1 every 36 seconds was popping out of the plant.

A railcar will hold 30 Vegas.

The Wankel scheme was postponed, then abandoned.

The regular engine was 2.3 litres & about 85 h.p.

A hi-performance Cosworth Vega was sold w/ 110 h.p., costing about $892 less than a Corvette.

Too expensive to add inner fenders or liners to the front fenders @ $2.28 each, the first couple of years they didn't use them. Millions spent on repairs to fenders under warranty.

John DeLorean declared it handled better than "almost any" European sports car.

GM VP DeLorean later said he had been compelled to overstate some things re: the car by the company.

Over 2,000,000 Vegas were built.

A lot of improvements were made between 1971 and 1977.

The most ever spent on one was $500,000. [insert picture of Edvard Munch's "The Scream"]
