Astra - how easy to fix these problems?

My Astra has a manual sunroof which is seized. Also, the central locking doesn't work although you can hear the motor working in the driver's door. There is evidence of door cards being removed previously so someone has tried to fix it.

 

How realistic/wise is it to try and fix these problems? I'm assuming the sunroof may be best to leave alone as it doesn't leak at the moment but if it is possible to fix it I might try.

Sunroof problems in Vauxhalls of that age tend to be due to rusted cables and/or cable guides, have a look at one in a scrapyard (if you can find one) to see how they work. You'll probably need the bits out of a scrapyard donor too.

 

The central locking could be as simple as a misplaced rod, they're held in place by plastic clips IIRC. The only way to find out what's happening in there is to open it up & have a look.

Everything John said is correct but I'd just get the scrap sunroof and fit it in one go.  Should be easy enough - screws from underneath I think.
