American/Custom Car Show - Pork Soylent 26 July

Since everything I plan on doing outside results in catastrophic weather conditions (see Solent Shiters meetings et al) I decided I'd brave the decidedly un-summery weather to head down to the Port Solent Custom, American and hot-rod extravaganza this morning, and took some photos

Beetles, in a sort of ratty custom kind of way. I liked them, especially when it did a massive burnout as we left.

Consul and Corsair? The Consul had a tiger-print interior which Micro_Stanky said was 'good'

Pickup, parked YPLAC-style.

Taxi, which Micro_Stanky observed had the steering on the wrong side.

Who was it who said they were looking for a day van? There were several here today.

Picture taken by Micro_Stanky, she's learning!

Now for the good* stuff. You all knew it was coming, and no-one will be disappointed to see:

Tat achievement unlocked.

Rear of the car doesn't escape. Beware the 'Solent Renegades' who on the way back turned out to have a combined age of at least 400 years. This may be a disguide to lull idiots like me into a false sense of security at traffic-light grand prix however.

Severely kerbed/savaged/shit whitewall inserts

Another one, with much the same shiny tat glued on.

Now, I gently mock these people, however it didn't escape my attention that I'd fit in pretty well with the crowd:

Bald? Check

Overweight? Check

Beard? Check

Drive an automatic? Check

They were a nice bunch with rock n roll music being put on in Krispy Kreme donuts, dancing, donuts (obviously) and general politeness. I'd head down to another event of theirs, but felt a bit bad about bringing my weather jinx along with me. I supect it'd have been even more well attended had the weather not been so dire.

Also, not one confederate flag anywhere to be seen. Interesting...

Just had to come back here and moan about the PT Cruiser thingy. Hate them so much.
