I've done many thousands of miles powered by a Mercedes OM364 in Mercedes 709Ds... 12 hour shifts in the height of summer at tit level to the punters.

 

Admittedly not a benefit on a rural run, but on the mad dash cross town service I did in the summer it was ACE.
