Hunting the identity of the pre war car thread, I came across this, a 1906 Christie Taxi. It had the above mechanicals and was covered by patents. Enjoy !

 

 

 

You will also see independant coil springs up front with what may be a shock absorber inside the spring.

this layout was obviously not a good idea as the Christie Co. was dead in 1909
