How do you tell the difference between a Zodiac and a Zephyr 6 from the rear, less chrome ??

As Skizzer points out, Zephyr & Zodiac MkIIIs were totally different at the arse end. However, the Zephyr 4 and 6 differed from each other in detail - Six-pots had the horizontal bootlid trim with five stars on it, the fours had no trim.
