So I have spent the last 7 days in Rome and now the 500 odd holiday snaps have finally dragged themselves into Flicker, I can present a selection of Italian chod (Cioda)

We will start with a classic

14466738912_3f36a34800_b.jpgDSCF3244 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

Which also comes in yellow

14281364540_1cbb816067_b.jpgDSCF3273 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

and Blue

Moving on and small Lancias are seen with regularity if not abundance

14281390640_0df475233a_b.jpgDSCF3263 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

as are Fiat Pandas

Not a sign of a proper Uno or Tipo all week though I was surprised by this device

Finally for the first post I will leave you with a Roman carpark in the rain

For our next set of pictures I will look at the sub-car class.

Rome has loads of these 3 wheelers

14281320840_287dd4ccc0_b.jpgDSCF3299 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

and when I mean loads, I mean loads

14281677837_b57bc7072a_b.jpgDSCF3237 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

They also seem to have 101 variants of the diesel mini car like

14281447920_848f70ea37_b.jpgDSCF3245 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

and

and

14467057995_f7fac79256_b.jpgDSCF3525 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

and

14280336930_10b3a2e38a_b.jpgDSCF3541 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

though smart cars are massively common, I only saw one of these

Now for a few working cars

To start with Roman taxis are all white

14468099205_59ccb5fd08_b.jpgDSCF3241 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

They come in many varieties and only one of them was a Mk1 Octavia

The police have a bunch of schemes, I missed the flying squads light blue with tiger motive but got this.

14281360227_0c8b5c43e0_b.jpgDSCF3358 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

and the worlds most camp 'snatch' landrover

14281045908_913de5d620_b.jpgDSCF3427 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

while they also have proper Landrovers in town

14488072353_31f453709b_b.jpgDSCF3302 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

I also got a poor picture of a dust cart

14280792347_5ebfba3190_b.jpgDSCF3492 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

and the Lancia Thema that seemed to be working as a limo

For the next set we have some random pictures.

Renault Twizzies have a small following and one was seen at night with a lady driver and her boyfriend in the back

Little and Large with more taxi action in the background

A few of these were about

14281241060_6fe70e5571_b.jpgDSCF3334 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

And somebody couldn't stand convention and drove about town in this

14466689404_008a2027ee_b.jpgDSCF3338 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

High quality parking skills were in evidence (and a lot of modern Minis)

14466498802_93fbbe581d_b.jpgDSCF3345 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

Cinqicentos and Secento's are still about in small numbers

14280781568_234c982ca3_b.jpgDSCF3471 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

As are Renault Twingos

14463675701_88fac2b2e7_b.jpgDSCF3528 by Sloth in a bowl, on Flickr

though I can only remember seeing one Escort

And I will leave you with a Porsche (yawn) in one of the poshest garages in town, the statue is probably worth quite a few multiples of the car

No 90's Lancias were noted at all, neither were Alfa 155s or similar Fiats, Tipo, Marea etc

I have been reminded to put in one last picture taken from the train near Ostia of a scrapyard

Loving all the 500 pics (naturally).

We had a week in Croatia at the beginning of the month.  Virtually no interesting motors except one Zastava 750 (fFat 600) but loads of Twingos and a fair smattering of Renault 4's.
