When I was a kid

Last night we was having a meal round my ma's, and the subject turned to my mate who had been made redundant, anyhow my mum blasts out that she used to work for the brewery and she was made redundant, and that she used to roll up to dole office in a series 3 v12 jag. Which made me laugh.

My mum and dad split years ago but my dad has full on shite credentials. So I asked for some pics of some crap, so we spent ages in the loft and I got a few but it's just the tip of the ice berg. I know my dad has a lot of pics so I will get then at a later date.

Last nights haul.

Here I am checking my dad has connected up the caravan electrics properly. This was a 2600.

I apologise but I am in a lot of these as for some reason my mum and dad liked me standing next to the family's motor.

Also soz but I took a leaf out of the eBay photoskills 101 handbook and took a photo of a photo!

Here Is a stag, in the second picture it's pre crash where a Sierra side swiped it and my old man went basurk. Funny how in later life I bought a stag and my old man has it now.

This was a 2.8 4 speed which my dad has told me many times was faster than his later 2.8 5 speed special with leather recaros, soz no pic of that.

Great stuff, I love looking at old photos like this mainly because they are  back in the day but also because they are  just snapshots in time rather than all this "LUKATMELOL" shit that Facebum seems to have engendered (rant over).    One day  the world will forget white clip-on Hella lamp covers and proper numberplate fonts unless photos like these survive.  Look forward  to more PLEASE!    I rather like the Jag dole office visit too, I only ever qualified for one week of dole sign-on in my whole working life which I think I had to do so my ex Mrs still got her money or some such malarkey.  Anyhow, I remember rocking up in my '79 Pontiac Grand Prix to claim it.....

Also I meant e21 not a seven series.

My mum used to drive this herald to work and she also had to take me to school in this midget.

She also used to blast around in a knackered Sherpa coupe.

If you look closely you can see a metro van that the subframe fell off on, and a talbot horizon convertible.

That 2002 was handed around the family till mum killed it reversing into a lamp post.

She has had some good shite we haven't got pics of including a mk2 xr2 and a mk4 xr3i she still drives around in a Italian style of flat out everywhere and currently runs a 08 mito, the 155bhp version.

I will try and get some pics of my dad as there is some prime chod there.

We also had when I was a kid a Alfa Sud, a couple of e28's, loads of shite vans like a ex Sherpa post office van that my brother fell out of the sliding door and had to have a big gash on his head glued up.

I don't have pictures but i was born in the late 80's and grew up with fairly large cars to tow caravans with. My mum only had a auto license and my dadpreferred to tow with auto ccars. Trouble with that was if it was raining or bad weather my mum used to steal car keys to go to work rather than getting her bike out. There is a photo lurking somewhere of me outside my grans house aged about 4 so about 1991 and in the background is my uncles e plate cavalier 1.6 L,other uncles 520e on a A plate and my dads C plated sd1 v8. One car sticks in my mind as one of the very few cars with a manual box he towed with and that was a 1750 hls maxi. I can remember him owning mk2 pre facelift Granada 2.3 i think it was, numerous Austin princess and ambassadors, cortinas and a couple of Capri v6 3.0. He mainly had rover sd1's though. Either 2600 or 3500. My grandfather who passed away in 1999 also toured over the country. Earliest car i remember him having was a nearly new mk2 Granada Ghia x which he part ex in for a comma camper. My grandmother hated it so that was swapped for a D plate sierra 2.0 GLS auto. He packed up touring in 1992 and sold the sierra and bought a G plate 340 DL variomatic. As i got older my dad kept cars for longer. D plate 740 auto, peugeot 405 1.9 gr carb engine,G plate Volvo 240 GLT auto,Subaru legacy on a k plate, fluorescent yellow hand painted mk2 transit,A plate Carlton 2.3 diesel and a shed load of sierra bangers.
