exhaust paint

Yeah ok its a bit OCD, following the rusting through of yet another i tried to get a stainless tail pipe incl rear silencer made for the old Benz, awkward shape not lending itself to a proper baffled silencer and i didn't want to be the oldest boy racer in the area with a noisy bugger, so yet again a mild steel tail pipe has been fitted which will be buggered again in about 3 years, the silencer doesn't rot its the pipe that runs under the rear suspension that holes eventually.

 

I know that most of the problem is inside and from the shape of the pipe its obvious that moisture and acids in the exhaust can accumulate there and do their worst, however the pipe gets as rusty as buggery outside too along that section just before last silencer, and i'm a bit (ok a lot) OCD because i like exhausts to not look rusty if poss.

 

So fellow shiters, for those who can be arsed to do them which paints if any do you use to coat your exhausts with please, preferably matt ish black.

Zinc weld-through primer. I painted the Cavalier's downpipe with it as 1300 downpipes are like rocking horse shit, droveit tthroughout last winter and haven't seen any significant rusting to the outside.
