Hinge pins

I have noticed that the drivers door on my other half fiesta doesn't seem to close very well - I noticed after purchase that the leading edge of the door was rubbing against the front wing ever so slightly, just enough to mark the paint - I assumed it had been bumped at some point.

I can move the door up and down slightly, there is wear in the hinge / pins, I was thinking about replacing the pins and giving the hinges a tap backwards slightly.

Anybody removed these pins before? Did it on a few cars my xantia was easy, Capri a bastard to do. Any body know if it's a pig of a job?

hollow pins can be a cnut to remove. They bend, twist and get ridge marks on them.

even with one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HINGE-PIN-REMOVING-TOOL-MANDRELS-MK1-MK2-ESCORT-CAPRI-HOLLOW-PIN-/201037702070

and a lever i still struggled.

Did my Anglia with the door off the car and a scaffold bar on the end of the pin removal tool which my mate (also a tool) gently leaned on while i knocked the hinge back and forth.even when it started to move, progress was slow on one pin, heat and oil (not at the same time) did help. the other came out no problems at all. new pins went in sweet.

Realigning the door took me months to get it right

Haven't done one for years, Ren 21 needed one doing, so i bought the special tool which promptly broke, ended up letting he dealer do it for the same labour cost as the special tool...doh.

Its getting at the buggers if the hinges are welded in thats the problem.

They are held in with a circlip top comes out downward, bottom one upward.

Looks like they may drift out, don't want to be using a gas torch on them.
