maf sensor fault?

The e200 has a slight annoyance when pulling off. Feel like a misfire or hesitation. I can't afford to get the fault codes read by "an approved Mercedes Benz service shop or trusted Independant"!! It has a little bit of grey smoke when revved but nothing noticable when driving. Local garage had a quick lool and said possibility maf shot and is over fueling. In one respect that would account for the low mpg. can any of you knowledgable chaps be able to help? Thanks

What condition are the spark plugs in? Any signs of brown around the ceramic tops? 3/4 of running faults I come across are caused by plugs cracking up.

Where abouts are you I have a decent diagnostic tool that can get into most mercs even sprinters that the AA haven't got the kit for. Buy me a beer and I will read it for you

A fair way from you i think mate. im in nottinghamshire. I hace a generic obd2 reader what obviously doesn't fit the 36 pin plug. Thanls for the offer though.

Yeah bit too far then I will probably be in manchester later this week delivering a car though. I do have the proper merc leads to code read the earlier cars

That would be a great offer if you was closer. I could spend a fortune chasing the fault.
