These badges were given to me in the late 80's-early 90's by my Uncle who was the manager at the Browns lane plant in Coventry, they are brand new with the sticky stuff on the back still with the protective paper on so you could stick these straight on as they are.

 

 

Comes with a bonus mini-badge, maybe for the centre of the steering wheel?

These seem to sell fairly readily on ebay. They look to be from the battery under bonnet XJ40 and for the 4 litre Sovereign, but also perhaps a late 3.6. They're not from the later battery in boot cars - the late 4 litre used badges of the same colour but a slightly different design. There are quite a few differences between model years and many of them are no longer available - I would think these badges will be reasonably sought after since getting a matching pair will be very difficult new.

Thanks for that, I don't really know much about them other than my Uncle swiped them from the production line. Maybe I should PM the owners club or something?

Isn't that little black growler badge the blanking plate on cars with no Sport button by the gearbox? This combination would suit an early 3.2 only - I think all the 2.9's had the older design name plates and 4.0 cars had a sport/first gear cutout switch.

None of that matters, and is probably wrong.
