Lankytim Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Hi gang, New baby on the way= budget restraints and so the Saab toy has to go! Its a 1998 ® Saab 9-5 2.3 SE manual saloon in midnight blue, one of the first ones, beautiful tan leather interior, 125k on the clock, 10 months MOT and about 6 months tax. Remapped by Saabnoob up to 230BHP, so its pretty fun to drive. My boss was the previous owner (typical middle-age company director!) and had it since it was about a year old, it was a dealer demonstrator before that. Stacks of service history, mostly from Saab and Saab specialists. The sump has been cleaned out within the last few years and it has the breather mod. Only serviced with fully synthetic oil. Recent work includes a fully rebuilt alarm unit, new SID and new rear trailing arm bushes, along with a full service including air and fuel filters, it also had a new turbo a few years ago. It has a new towbar, fitted a few months ago and used about three times (that was a good investment!) Mechanically its great, as mentioned it's been serviced well all it's life, bodily it's pretty good apart from the odd parking dint, the worst being in the middle of the passenger front door, thanks to some careless prat opening their door into it in a supermarket car-park. There is also a bit of surface rust around the drivers-side rear door shut where the rubber seal meets the body. Not too bad, just unsightly when you open the door. Underneath there is a bit of grot in the spare wheel well, again nothing too bad and it went straight through the MOT with it recently. The interior is in good order with little wear, the only issue being the blowers only blowing onto the windscreen, it's never bothered me but i've read it's a fairly easy fix. There was an issue with a very occasional clutch slip on boost at about 4k rpm in high gears but this seems to have disappeared, the clutch itself certainly seems healthy now, also the exhaust has just developed a blow from the rear end. This looks repairable but a good used aero exhaust will come with the car. I'm going to be so sad to see it go, this car has taken me up to Scotland, down to the south coast, over to Wales. It's a great motor, all that power and leather trim, lovely! (the fuse cover has been replaced!) Price? a mere £550!
