1750 E series engine required

I am looking for a replacement 1750 engine or engine and gearbox for my Maxi. Does anyone have or know of one for sale?

I took it to the garage this afternoon and it is clear the engine is worn, it has used a sumpful of oil in 300 miles and is pushing out a lot of blue smoke when revved. I had not noticed it on the trip to Wales and back to be honest.

I can get it fitted cheaply!

I just sold two of them! The guy I sold one to may sell them on though. Hes in Shrewsbury. PM me if you want his number.

Are you/they sure it needs a new engine? It could be valve stem oil seals, which can usually be changed with the head in situ.

I don't think it is, I had noticed a lack of power on the way home and there is quite a lot of bottom end noise! The top end sounded quite rattly, will try the long down hill and lifting throttle test but it sounds rough!

@LT - responded - cheers

postage will be a bit extra though :evil:

There should be plenty a bit closer, so probably not really worth it!

If you buy another engine, unless it's in the car and you can hear it running you may end up with one that just as bad/worse than yours.

Would you not be better to have yours rebuilt?

I think it will cost more to rebuild it, I was quoted £600 on an old allegro! I am about to enquire about one which is a known quantity.
