Guest Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Last year I sold my beloved but slightly shagged Series 3 Landy to some dude on eBy. The dude aforesaid put it back on eBay, and it was bid up by a fair few quid above what I had sold it for (fine by me, good luck), but did not sell. Now it has been broken up and is for sale in various bits on EBay. I am sad. As fortune would have it, I am about to leave London after almost 30 years to go and live in a shed surrounded by pigshit, quite near Little Racist on the Wold, so a Landy will be right up my back alley. Anyone know of a fairly shitey but MOTable Series 3 for sale for folding cash money? The ones on eBay are too posh for me. I may go on the Landy fora to have a look, but they are a tad geeky. SWB please, as LWB is well ghey innit.
brickwall Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 They are always there, you just have to sniff them out. Top tip: Autoshiters should use Google Earth to peek into yards, farms and depots that can't be seen from the road. There lies gold.
Guest Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Yeah, but what if you catch a top down view of Farmer Volestrangler humping his sister/goat/Massey Ferguson out by the chicken shed. Think of the psychological trauma you would experience.
Guest Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 My previous shite Landy buying technique involved going up to a bloke in a pub and asking 'is that your Landy outside?" and, after some pathetically minimal and borderline negligent due diligence, offering him a roll of crumpled notes, which he accepted with gap-toothed cackling glee. Maybe I will eschew the intertubes and try that again.
Albert Ross Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 109s are ghey huh? You can't kip in an 88 without resembling Quasimodo the morning after, and you can't fit loads of shit in them. I have 3 109s..... what you saying like? (None for sale!)
Guest Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 As for kipping in the back of a Landy, who said it was supposed be comfortable? Better to sleep at the wheel.
Albert Ross Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Better to do so when stationary. And in that case, you will need a 109, as the brakes are bigger. Seriously, 88s seem to carry a price premium, and 109s are often ignored over their dimensionally challenged stablemates. Buy the big one. You won't regret a thing (Unless you buy a piece of shit with cheesecloth for a chassis and bulkhead)
Guest Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 88s look better according to my eyes and go better on the rough stuff according to my wellies, but If push comes to shove I might look at one of the long ones.
Albert Ross Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Well if it helps sway your decision, mine currently carries just about 3/4 of a ton... 2 LR 2286 engines, and a decent size engine crane. I will be adding tool boxes to that tomorrow night. Try that lot with an 88. I use mine for carrying, rather than "playing" in the mud.
Guest Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 My old one was used for hauling trash, towing boats, and pulling out tree stumps. Also going to the pub. Not much playing in the mud save to obtain access to a local airstrip up a very rough track. If I get another one it will be used for hauling trash, towing bikes and maybe dismantled gliders, and getting up and down a very steep access road to a house which will be tricky in snowy conditions without Landyness. Also going to the pub.
Guest Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Landy solution of sorts possibly found. See elsewhere in this parish.
