A '78 Chevette GLS saloon - it was ace and managed the claimed 91 mph and not a smidgen more.

It only broke down once - Stromburg carburettor diaphragm failure

It was ok, but it had done nearly 90k and I was struck down by thrusting young exec syndrome and moved

Swiftly onto a 1982 mk2 Cavalier 1.6L saloon in coolest green

Which I wish I'd still got, but at the time was glad to see the back of, at a then frightening 80 odd thousand miles!

Bizarre eh, barely run in or what?

16 when i was at college as an apprentice mechanic, i bought a fiesta XR2 that had been donated to said college as something we could destroy/learn new skills on.

My old girl went ape shit (especially when she found out i'd driven it the 8 miles home ), she got my step dad to chain it to the gate post to stop me doing it again. Six months later, when the pikeys came knocking she let the have it for nothing!!!!
