The trouble is many judge them all with the same contempt the high milage mistreated ones deserve.Find a well cared for Mondeo with under 100K on the clock and chances are it will be equal to other similar vehicles in its class - once its past 100K in fairness its downhill from there as its basically getting worn out,and like ALL modern vehicles,they aren't intended to last forever.
