Please can someone ring this man and ask them if they have still got the Talbot Samba S Shell?

Phone: Spain 687880515

Big ask I realise, but I can reimburse the cost of call etc..

I can do it, but it might a bit late now (they're an hour ahead) and I will be away all day tomorrow, so it'd have to be Weds. The cost of the call is likely to be around 25p, so I really am not bothered about that.

Oh excellent thanks! basically I'm after the remains of his S... preferably the shell. I don't care what is or isn't on it, I don't need an engine, I don't need a front or rear sub frame.

If the shell is gone what would be useful are the S interior, and the black S dashboard, possibly the metal bumpers and end caps.

Anyway see what you can find out for me, and if he can send you pictures that would be fantastic.

I think he is in Tarragona. If he has what I'm after, I will be soon!

Thanks Luxo!

No worries...I just hope he doesn't expect me to speak bloody Catalan.

I did say to Edd that the only two words of Spanish I could speak were 'Besame culo' Which is neither polite or very usefull when trying to negotiate on a car :D

I haven't forgotten about this, I just was out all day. As I will be tomorrow. I shall try to text him in the morning and see if we get any response.

no problem at all. Does he have an e-mail address, or are we limited to txting him?

I was hoping you could talk to him??! I can Google translate to his email address but he left a phone number so I guess he wants to talk.. I replied to his message asking him if he spoke English and he has of yet to get back to me.

Obviously, the other one never replied to my SMS.

I dunno why but I keep getting this image of the Monty Python "Hungarian phrasebook" sketch.

You thought you were texting him with "Im enquiring about the car" and he received a text asking if you could fondle his buttocks.

Bizarre, man, bizarre.

Looks like 'a no' then!

Mucho replies but no actual help then....

FFS. If anyone speaks Spanish, or is actually Spanish, ring up and ask! If you are neither, stop yer rambling.

I called both of the buggers, but there was no reply. Can't pick their phones up for them!

Well thanks for tying Luxo.... I will give it a go at some point when I build up the confidence... armed with Google translate. It will probably go a bit like this:

Hola! Hablo Anglaise?

On this issue -I am currently negotiating on 2 4 door Seat 850 saloons, near Valencia.

I dont speak one word of Spanish (OK -dos cervezas) but have found that Google Translate has enabled me to get across my wants- which may well be satisfied...

I think the Spanish economic environment means that they are a lot more receptive to ''foreign investment'' than they were a couple of years ago.

No worries- I shall be trying again tomorrow- I'm free all day.

I've managed to get hold of him!

He's got the "bodywork" off a Samba S which he described as being in quite good condition, the oily bits off a Rallye, and a complete GL. He said he's going to put his email address and some pics on the ad. Reckons you can communicate through google translate, but wouldn't have a problem talking to me again if need be.

And he doesn't half talk fast.

Nigel how are you getting your 2 back? I've a friend after a car from a Spanish scrapyard too, so that potentially 4 cars wanting a ride home to England, maybe we can work something out between us? I think for one car he was looking at £500 to get it back.

Any how, long way off a deal here but no harm thinking ahead! :D

No problem. I am rather confident that 'bodywork' does mean the bodyshell in this context, however, while my Spanish is pretty good, I am not a native speaker and there's always scope for misunderstanding!

I was also meaning to ask him what part of the country he lives in, but I forgot! Let's hope he won't tell you 'yeah, pop round to see me here in Tenerife and we'll sort something out'.

Said friend is me :)

If we could sort something out on group transport I'd be up for it, was looking at around £500 to bring one car back.

Let me know

probably worth adding that the car is near Barcelona

What car are you fetching back from a Spanish scrapyard then? Sounds interesting.

Since I realised that that ‘Segundamano.es’ site had a classic car section I’ve been daydreaming about bringing a SEAT 124D home via a mega road trip, aint gonna happen just yet like.
