Shipley?

I belive a few folks on here have used Shipley.

Got my eye on a car on the 'bay, it's a bit too far for collection but seems to be a good price/what I'm after. Basicaly I'm wondering:

How do you pay for the car? Bank transfer? Cheque?

Does the seller sign the V5 and send it with the car for the buyer to send off?

Do you pay the delivery driver when they drop the car off?

Sorry if I'm being dense, all info gratefuly received.

I've used shitly a couple of times. Just transferred the money into the drivers bank account, they paid the seller in cash and brought me the v5 with the trade bit filled out. Both times the drivers have just put any old bollocks down as a trade address to leave with the seller.

Not all drivers would be happy with the bank transfer jobbie but the cars were £600 and £300 so it's not mega money going through their books.

You pay a "deposit" first of all to shiply, then the balance when the car is delivered. The "deposit" actually all goes to shiply. Be prepared for a 15 minute moan from the driver about how shiply are robbing bastards.

I do a few jobs for shiply and have had some done for me and any moaning about them being robbing bastards is justified. When you accept a quote you pay a fee to shiply plus a deposit. So shiply get your fee then get to keep the deposit as they charge the transport company that as their fee. It works out that they had just over 100 quid off me for a 650 transport job. I won't get involved with paying for cars for customers though as that is asking for trouble especially with cars bought off ebay that are normally poorly described or worse still salvage motors that usually get extra damage after the auctions. For a transport company it isn't much of a money earner I am lucky if I can get 50p a mile as I have to compete with Joe Blogs with his barely legal transit and an A frame. I did a job yesterday which involved one car into london and another back down here to somerset 13 hour day and after diesel I made about 140 quid not really worth it once I deduct the vat and the running costs of the discovery. Mmmmm maybe I should of put this in the grumpy thread. Where is the car going to and from ?

Shiply is wank, my tip is get some quotes on there then use your best detective skills to try and contact the transporter directly and deal with em. Shiply charges ridiculous sums to both the shipper and the 'customer' and their customer service makes eBay look like fuggin harrods.

Shiply used to be pretty good but now it blows masssive cuttlefish dong 24-7

WHS^

I put an ad out on Shiply to get the Samba Style brought up to North Yorkshire from Northampton. Cost me 120 quids. Harder than eBay to do a deal outside of the website I must say but still possible.

Also put an ad to get a Rover bumper moved from UK to Romania > 60 pounds was the lowest quote so it does have it's uses.

Incidentally I need a Samba Roller bringing up to North Yorkshire from Leicestershire
