25v6turbo Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I need a 195/65/15 inner tube.E-bay have a 195/60/15 tube is this going to be O.K or do i have to find the exact size,if so E-bay seems a lost cause...
Cavcraft Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 You can't tube anything wider than 70 series tyres, or at least that was what I was taught when I was a tyre fitter many moons back.
HBR Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Yeah, tubing tyres on modern (by modern I mean going back a bit now too!) is not the done thing, more so with low profiles. But if you are going to do it & fit the wrong size while you're on then at least it'd be in the right direction! Fitting the 60 series tube where it should be a 65 means it'll stretch a bit more than it should, but that's much better than fitting 70 series & having creases in it.What kind of action is it going to get?
25v6turbo Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 Cheers for the advise,i found the exact size inner tube and will be keeping it as a spare, the tyre itself is now fine but it got a pinhole in a close to the edge position, but the tyre is nearly new and very hard to get...The car only does a few miles a year, not an everyday car.
Cavcraft Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Not worth having it vulcanised? Once done (properly) the repair is the strongest part of the tyre. Also if you fit a tube and don't repair the pin hole there's a fighting chance that however small the hole is it will rub against the tube and cause it to deflate.
