Insurance question

Right, without trawling through messages to check if this has been covered before - a bit of advice if possible.

 

I am thinking - and at this stage it is only a thought, of popping over to France and bringing back some shite - possibly another Renault 18 (or 14 if I feel brave) My insurance company will insure the vehicle with a given French plate, but only with effect from the moment the wheels touch UK soil and even then only to get me from there to it's Mot appointment.

 

Given the fact that the French rozzers usually burn motorists at the side of the road for not having things like a bulb kit or, God forbid, no yellow safety vest; I'd like to know how, given my shit spoken French, I'd arrange insurance cover to get me to the port of my choice.

 

Any ideas would be greatfully received.

I'm looking at getting some French tat in the summer, so I've been looking into the insurance thing too.
