Looking for a garage

Yep, I am looking for a new garage for the cars, must have a house attached, be double the national average size and half the price ...

I've started looking at houses as ours is now officially too small. Found a great house with a double garage, office, store, enclosed carport and even a toilet and hot water all in the one level.

when I phoned the estate agents and told them all what I wanted, lots couldn't grasp that I would want parking and accommodation for nine cars, a motorhome and a scooter.

One agent came up trumps with two on their books that looked suitable. So, who wants to buy my house so I can get a new one?

Good luck with your search :) This reminds me, I must move out of London so I can afford to buy something better than a pokey two-bed flat. I've got a garage but a house with a driveway is a must next time as I'm getting too old for this communal living lark.

I'm centering my search on the badlands that are the Forest of Dean as it is still close to work but with lots of interesting older properties with outbuildings.

The fact that I have found two properties in budget and the right location tells me the search won't be too bad.

The missus' step-dad once worked on site with 12 labourers from the Forest of Dean, and they were all related...Webbed fingers, the lot :D

A pleasant area though, certainly better than the congested south-east.

I had a discussion with the MIL last night about that - and how we used to live in East ayrshire, where they too were rather inbred (supposedly). I like down at heel places with no pretensions whatsoever.

the FoD is beautiful, I can have an excuse to get a 4x4 again and I think wife and daughter would like it, and I can find a house that can store the 100,000+ photos and antique postcards we own, about 7,000 books and all the cars.

We almost moved to Mitcheldean a couple of years back. Theres loads of really nice houses with plenty of land / space / garages round there and its surprisingly cheap. Sadly purchaser for our house was a bit of a twunt so it all fell through and we sorta lost enthusiasm after that. Maybe in future though.

Good luck with the house hunting!

I'm with you on the lack of pretensions thing, I wouldn't want to live amongst the chattering middle-classes even if I could afford it.

Space + numerous shite vehices = quality of life :)
