Anyone any good with modern Renaultshite?

While perusing for shite on the bay, i have spied a modern 2008 Twingo 1.2 75 Dynamique on my doorstep for what seems like megacheap monies, however it is listed as having a possible ecu fault as it wont start - Apparently it all lights up and turns over but wont run... It also wants an alloy wheel - I've heard these have a fuel cutout in the event of a knock and am wondering if it could be that.. Does anyone have any experience of modern french stuff? My google fu has failed on this occurance, and i't quite like to top up my shite fund by sorting it and getting it moved on!!

Please feel free to flame my ass if this isn't an acceptable post.

Have some old french chod for taking the time to look anyways :)

Had a couple of things with late Renos, if it starts for a couple of seconds and dies thats usually the immobiliser sometimes locking and unlocking will get them going but it only a temp fix. On the card in the slot type if they don't crank whack the card in a few times again its a work round not a fix, good luck.

How bad is the alloy?

Some slight kerbing actually sets of the seat belt stalks and airbags?

TDC sensors are favourite at the moment but we don,t see many Twingos with problems,is it over 3 years old yet?

It was reg'd on the 28th July 08, so 3 1/2 years... I don't know how bad the wheel is as it's sat on a steel one.

Could be the fuel cut off, normally under the bonnet attached to the bulkhead or thereabouts, sometimes inside the car (alfa 145's are under the passenger seat for example)

normally look like this:

Just press the top - rubber bit, and it may fire up.

As a slight aside, the seller has recently bought a twingo bumper and headlight so i'm wondering if it has indeed had a bit of a knock

If its local, could you borrow a code reader and see what's flaged as faults against the ECU and sensors, could prob also check the airbag status?

Those have volatile memory for part of the ECU circuits. Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, hook it back up and see what happens. They are prone to "bleedover" from other cars locking plips which have a close frequency, so if another one is/was near, the ECU panics and engages the immobilser.

Simmo's suggestion of a code reader is an excellent one too.

That's a good idea simmo, my mate has an OBDII reader so I could whack that on and see what comes up.. I'm pretty sure the airbags havent been deployed

Found it on Fleabay, does look cheap to be honest,go and have a look ASAP if its close to you.

I'll take a trip down after work if it's still around, don't really want to get it running before I hand over the cash monies though as i don't think he'd sell then!!
