Company car choice these days.

My boss drove his VW Golf into a tree. He loved it that much.

What a twat! :D

The first time I got the use of a vehicle with a job it was one of these, and it's just occurred to how little I realised what a privilege it was. A brand new K reg Morris half ton van like this but in white.

It must have been one of the last as they were about to introduce the Marina van. The company was Buckingham Plant and it was used to ferry drivers or parts around. I don't think there were seats in the back so apart from three in the front the rest perched on the rear mudguards or the floor. I usually drove as even then column gears were unusual and not greatly liked.

A few years later at another plant hire firm I was 'given' a Moskvich van to travel to work in. Unfortunately it was old, rotten and not the perk I'd hoped for when I took the job, but once again I'd be much more appreciative of it now.

I had a company van from the age of 18 to 22-ish.    Was allowed to take it home but could only fill up at one garage on the company account.  It was a double-edged sword really because it meant I spent all my disposable income on beer and gurls when it should have been a prime period of shite motoring.    I had motorbikes at the time and they were handy things for the many recovery instances that were required....

First was this, brand new.   It lasted 6 months before I rolled it and was given another one!

Then the company took over another depot and got this thrown in.   It was given to me to destroy.   Didn't take long - it kettled on the M3.

Finally after another take-over this was issued from the Motor Department (without actually changing my job I had gone from working for a small family haulage business to one of the biggest conglomerates in the UK)..

That was the last company vehicle I had apart from various pool cars which were generally quite interesting as they tended to be cast-offs from reps and disgruntled managers.    They ranged from O Series SD1 to Marina 1300 Estate in shite-ness.....
