  1. Me and the crew popped down to the first meet of the season today at Ryhope pumping station. Weather was lovely and there was literally something for everyone. Have rather a lot of pics. Allegro on the way out as we went in.
  2. Want to be like these happy Shiters enjoying a happy day out? Then you need to attend CHUMLEY!!!! For me Chumley is the highlight of the car show season, the atmosphere, the cars, the company, and of course the epic commentator! This year they have added not one but two Chumley dates! So this leaves us with a dilemma. Do we attend one, the other or both? I have placed a poll above to gauge interest. I am happy to organise again, I actually quite enjoyed organising it last time! If you're uninitiated to our Chumley gathering the link to last years thread is below, and in that thread you'll find the link to the year before's thread too! http://autoshite.com/topic/32511-chodmodestley-2nd-september-2018-chumleycholmondeley-castle-cheshire-ish/page-1 So get polling and we'll see if we fancy the May one either instead of or additionally to the September one.
  3. I have spoken to Lesley Cook who looks after the Hammond Microcar collection in Kent (TN12 postcode - between Headcorn and Staplehurst). The original owners founded the RUMcar register/forum. I have confirmed that up to 20 cars from us (quirkier the better she says!) will turn up on 12th May 1pm for a tour. The 20 car limit is due to only so much hard standing. Apparently there is a pub down the road for drink/food afterwards. This is a private collection, so we can only attend at this time and date unless you make your own separate arrangements. The charge is £3 a head, which I think is very fair. I will happily play banker (yes, banker) on the day. The limit is 20 cars, but up to 30-40 people. So please put your username below (and any other forum members who will be in the car with you). https://www.hammondmicrocars.com/ 1. egg 2. GrumpiusMaximus + better half 3. SierraMikeHotel 4. .

Since this year is almost over, it's time to make plans for next year. A sizeable AS delegation attended the inaugural event in 2016. Expected to be some half arsed giffer show, to everyone's surprise it turned out to be a superb spectacle with lots of noise, fumes and yes, speed. A return visit to the 2017 event proved to be not less satisfying. For this year, the event was not held in the town of Bromyard, it was integrated with the Shelsley Walsh hill climb, so we skipped it. But next year it'll return to Bromyard and thus we all should go again. https://bromyardspeedfestival.co.uk/ Attending are: 01 Junkman 02 Conrad D. Conelrad
  5. These discussions happened over in Squire Dawson's thread about his gorgeous Humber... eddyramrod, on 23 Sept 2018 - 12:10 PM, said: chaseracer, on 23 Sept 2018 - 1:20 PM, said: eddyramrod, on 23 Sept 2018 - 8:01 PM, said: Hooli, on 25 Sept 2018 - 9:33 PM, said: That was five years ago, and I could drive then! However, yes, the principle is sound and you would all be most welcome. New thread on way... And lo, here is that new thread, specifically for the purpose. A single day is going to be enough. What do we think of Sunday October 21st at the Lakeland Motor Museum?
  6. Thought we'd try and get a Sunday afternoon meet in before the clocks go back. Usual Cafe on the A249 northbound. I think it has changed it's name again when I went past this week, so no website link for now (was Mickey's Rock Café and then Bangers Diner). Note your interest here.

Went over on the Sunday for the show, t'was the biggest gathering of Triumphs in Scotland so I took the Doloshite and was invited onto the TSSC stand. 8. Every first Sunday of the month Haynes Motor Museum has a breakfast meet from 9am to 12am. If you haven't been to Haynes before it's a brilliant museum in Sparkford near Yeovil by the A303. Ideal stop off point on the way to Devon and Cornwall. The breakfast meet has been going for a while now and it's getting very popular. Basically a morning where car enthusiasts can rock up in whatever they have and go for a browse on other people's cars. Very much a extreme mix of cars. From fake Ferraris to real Ferraris, Fiesta ST to Sierra Cosworths and from Hyundai Traget to badly modified Civics. Everything goes. I've been meaning to go for a long while and decided I would have a jaunt up in the Jag before I sold it to see a couple of mates there. As usual, the trip in the Jag was largely uneventful. Only issue I had was being low on fuel. As it was Somerset, most of the petrol stations were closed on a Sunday morning. Anyway enough of the chit chat, time for some photos. Literally hundreds of different cars and I couldn't photograph them all. So I picked out some of the more unusual or special ones. This is a typical sight. Modern Alfa 4C next to a CX turbo The 4C was also near this scruffy Merc. Not sure why I took a picture of it but never mind. Probably because there was many pampered cars on this row and then there was this... Another typical sight. Chevy Suburban next to an E type. Which is next to a DMC and yet another modern Mustang. Yes this is a real DB5. Lovely Alfa Loads of American stuff - especially Mustangs. Here is a generic Mustang for an idea Possibly not one for this forum, but these are phenomenal machines. Front brakes were insanely big. As you would expect there is a fair amount of British stuff. Especially P6s. This MG ado16 was absolutely minty. I wish my sills were this good. Checkout this Puma without rusty arches! These definitely look better in person. I have no idea why these are so expensive. I took a picture of this not because I liked it but because someone obviously spent a lot of time on this.

    Quainton Pre-78 Vehicle Show

Today's destination was the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in Quainton, near Aylesbury, for their Pre-78 Vehicle Rally. With the Maxi now officially recognised as a 1977 build it was eligible for this event, open to vehicles registered before August 1978, although a handful of newer cars sneaked in. Not much in the way of shite as 80s and 90s stuff wasn't allowed but there were a few things of interest among the typical classic car fodder. 11. ***####date updated to 10th Sept!####*** Hello one and all! Due to the glorious opportunity proffered to my by my gainful employment - I shall be billeted at Sutton Bridge on Monday 10th Sept. I'll be driving down and wondered whether any shiters would be up for a mini meet/scran on that day? I've never been there afore, so would welcome suggestions re places nearby (as far as Kings Lynn ISH) we could meet? Thinking circa 7.30pm for dinner and talking shyte? Pop your name down if you fancy it! Cheers 1. 320touring 2. 3.
  12. Just realised this is on tomorrow. Anyone from here going ? It's a massive free event, but I usually manage to miss it through being busy or just stupid. If I can find something that runs tomorrow ( Passat in for paint, ML in for inlet manifold problem, e46 pissing water out, C30 - no air con, etc etc) I should get down there about 18.00 . Worth going for me , just see the White Tagora and Bronze Chrysler 2-Litre that are always amongst the 1000 cars.
  13. We haven't done this for a while. The call of bacon, rammle and DETHBURGAS is strong. 21st? 28th? Another date entirely? Shout up.

    Moffat Car Show

Yes, this was weeks ago. I couldn't be arsed uploading the pictures until now... I took the Acclaim as late entries don't get in and I'd not pre-booked so not worth the hassle of taking the Dolomite. First spot was this as the Scottish Vintage Vehicle Trust were running some proper busses around town: Is it even a car show if there isn't a row of Stags? 1980s BL/AR crap was out in strength! 1970s BL trash as also about in good numbers! Some Frenchness: Girlfriend couldn't believe the GS was the same age as my antiquated Doloshite! Older BMC stuff was also kicking about: Unexpected Japanese stuff! Fords: The show is organised by the local Rootes Group club so there was much Rootage in attendance! Random other stuff: Viva which broke down as soon as it hit the motorway: Obvs the best cars hide in the car park... All in all a really good show with a large selection of vehicles and less rows of Mk2 Escorts and MGBs than I'm used to! I've discovered my girlfriend likes VW Beetles, Morris Travellers and Hillman Super Minxes, which is a good start.
  15. As I was unable to make the local mini-meet in April and shitefest this year in my 6 months membership, is there anyone in the south coast area fancy meeting up mid-late August? I know a nice spot near Chichester with good views over the South Downs which has a burger van & Mr Softee parked up most days, I will also be able to throw an BBQ at dustbin towers in the evening for those who don't have nagging wives inclined provided we go past Aldi on the way back and the gathering is smollish! You can also drool over Mrs D's V-reg Corolla
  16. if you wanna show up for chowder then feel free they all do that if you wanna meet me on the bike ill be at the benburb heritage centre at about 1030 ish http://ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/485568-mini-chowder-dash-sat-7th-july-lap-of-lough-neagh yis should be able to see that - about the only part of the site you dont pay for

    Hedsor Car Show - Today...

Had a run up to Luton on Saturday for a mate's 60th. A rocking night was had by all, we stayed up overnight and called in at Hedsor, near Bourne End, Bucks on the way home where there was a car show going on. Cracking weather, cracking weekend and 250 miles with the Cowley which coped admirably with the heat on the short stretches of M1, M25, M40 and M3 in between pleasant country meandering. I would have taken lots more pictures at Hedsor but it was too hot to wait around for mongs who were playing human statue near anything interesting or arseing about having their own photo taken gurning in front of various vehicles. Honestly. Either my already truncated tether is rapidly running out or people are simply becoming more gormlessly ego-centric in their endeavours to force their grim countenance onto all and sundry. Right, rant over....What did I bother my arse manage to point my camera at? Right, there was this....Rather nice Mk3 non-full capacity engined Capri. And another in Mk1 flavour. Rong bonnet on a four pot of this age, I think. Colour isn't original either. No matter, I just photographed this to share on here as it is still rather Noice. XLR should come with black rear panel and (flat) bonnet but these were delete options. These don't pull a classic car tag in my mental library, but they are certainly seldom seen nowadays. Always quite liked the look of them, though.... Bite-size Yank...... Baur loveliness.... Caught this one as it escaped. I tried a couple of times to get it when it was parked up but it was continually accompanied by Wankers spouting Wank about Wankels. This was bloody lovely and filed under "Shite Which I Should Have Bought When They Were a Tenner" or something.... Do Not Paint, American style....Actually I found it a bit contrived with its conspicuously over-done Klear Kote so maybe I Would Paint. This lovely Wolseley followed us for a bit as we left. I wanted it to have had a Winkworth bell on it so I could have driven comically through the village in the Cowley like some Ealing film... This needed a few Embassy packets and a Daily Mirror folded up on the dashtop. Strike that, nobody needs a Daily Mirror. This looked interesting and sounded nice coming in... Wonder what was under the bonnet? Oh. OK. One of those. Charlie Hungerford turned up in his Shadow.... Looks good enough to eat, that, Charlie. What's it like inside? Mmmmm, Werthers.... Do Not Paint. UK version. Really rather liked this, dents and all. Smelled nice inside, too. Can't show you the smell, but you can have a look... And if I ever have an MGA, its going to look like this... Speaking of MG, MGBs seemed conspicuous by their absence. Or maybe I have just stopped seeing them. There was, however, more than one but less than three MGCs. Including this appropriately registered roadster... Sharing the MGC honours as well as the inexplicable fetish for Minilites was this GT.... It had this badge..... My ageing memory databank tells me that this was some kind of run-out special on the part of University Motors to shift what had quickly become a bit of a floor-sitter in the BMC sports car range. The non-standard paint finish - and possibly those Minilites - was probably part of the package which no doubt included things like a wooden gear knob, map light and a matching umbrella or some such tosh. Lastly, the car that I would most like to have pottered across to Henley in and partaken of a cream tea. If only because it would have matched the colour scheme..... The weekend's jaunt was completed with a fine sighting of the Battle of Britain Flight passing over the Flywheel event at Bicester which we passed on the way up and the magnificent spottage (un-camera ready unfortunately) of an enthusiastically-driven BMW 3.0CS just outside Marlow on the way home.
  18. An informal gathering at Willington Dovecote, near Bedford, MK44 3PX. No entry fee and no pre-booking required, just come and go whenever you like between noon and 5pm. Usually a good turnout of interesting cars in a picturesque venue. We'll be there with the Maxi so does anyone else fancy it?

  20. Dear friends, The first significant motorsports event of the year is drawing close. We decided to finally make this a fully fledged Autoshite event, with several people already having signalled interest. The details are as follows: 28th April 2018 - 15:30 Chesterton Stadium – Loomer Road Chesterton, Staffordshire, ST5 7LB We could meet beforehand for a sophisticated reduction of the inner diameter of our cardiovascular veins at the: Hungry Horse - Chatterley Whitfield Carsington Drive Brindley Village Tunstall, Staffordshire, ST6 5GA The suggested meeting time is 13:00, then set off to the racetrack at about 14:30, which would give us sufficient time to check out the sophisticated*,carefully* prepared racing bolides in all their pre race glory*. The event is notable for its all round friendly, fun and laid back atmosphere, so bring your mini yous along.
  21. As title, I went to the Spring event last year and believe it or not actually came away with quite a few things I was happy with. Any other shiters going? https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/spring-autojumble/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI07PRs5OD2gIVwZkbCh1ApQGEEAAYASAAEgJAGPD_BwE
  22. Leading on from discussions in the What DollyWobbler Did Next thread, would any of you fine gentlemen like to meet up this weekend (Sunday?) for some chat and bantz? Shildon railway museum has a nice car park, and some trains, and some stormtroopers. https://www.locomotion.org.uk/whats-on/fantazmagoria Location: http://www.nrm.org.uk/NRM/PlanaVisit/VisitShildon If anyone would fancy a meet up, but it a different location, feel free to post up suggestions.
  23. Anyone up for a jaunt over to the Enfield BCA , much sucking of teeth and laughing at unlucky punters buying auction shite in that there Enfield will happen. Want to play 'spot the wannabe car dealer'? Work out your very own fantasy auction garage from the safety of a hard plastic seat. Pre-auction jaunt to a local cafe where fine quality bacon orientated products might be consumed (not by me sadly). Date: 24th March 2018, time: early'ish. Location: Enfield BCA, just on the A10, J25/M25.
