Boxing Day Car Meet Romsey Hants

Anybody sick of Christmas by Boxing Day morning should make their way to Romsey, Hampshire. There are some tight rules as to who can display, this is purely to preserve the nature of an event that has now outgrown most of the available space! There is public parking not yet taken over by the classics/Yanks and its free to wander about but there are collection buckets for Prostrate Cancer charity. Bit far out for many of us, I know but in case more local folk had forgotten/didn't know....

    Festival of the Unexceptional 2016

It's less than a month until the second-greatest chod gathering of this summer, Hagerty's Festival of the Unexceptional. Saturday 23rd July, Whittlebury Park Golf Club. Who's going? The Base should be there https://www.hagertyinsurance.co.uk/articles-and-resources/events/festival-of-the-unexceptional#
  4. Because of the wet ground we never got to play with most of my toys, I borrowed the discovery to tow start both dumpers but the ground was just too wet. I also was hoping we would get a couple of Triumphs running, get our horticultural truck going and then there was always the tractor to play with. Anyway what I am thinking is if there is any interest we could have a small gathering latter in the summer when the ground has dried out to fix/play with the toys or bring your own project to fettle, what do you think?
  5. As Alex_Bucket said; So it's about time we had this thread to keep such things together, not spread about between various other topics where they could be missed. If you're attending, or live near someone who is, feel free to add any offered items, offers to shift stuff, wanteds, and so on. For example, we still have this wrapped up MGF bumper, which needs to go in Jon_Dugong's direction. It's been knocking around here for about a year now... That's me un-burying the Samara the night it awoke from its hibernation. Also, some/any/all parts from this ex-Chompy 216 are available free to an Autoshiter, though if a part is a ball-ache to get off, you can pay me in beer. (Come and get the whole thing if you want it (BD23), I don't fancy dragging it to Buckinghamshire.) I'm sure I've loads of other tat to be rid of too, I'll list it here as I trip over it. Add yours below! And shout up if you want owt...
  6. No idea what this is like, but it's not far so I plan to go along and have a look... Anyone fancy it?
  7. Looks like a nice do......each station on the line is themed......Allies, German, French and a period holiday camp. Displays of cars and military vehicles too. spot the Autoshite sticker

MG Live Silverstone - Anybody going?

I have just washed my MGB GT ready for taking to MG Live tomorrow Saturday. I know there is not a lot of love for Bs on here but there will be plenty of ZR, ZS, ZT etc. If you are going in secret and don't want to show your hand in public, pm me and I will send you my mobile number so we can meet up! You never know this could be a sting operation to flush out the MGB likers!
  11. Who is up for buying some parts for shite he doesn't own?
  12. Hi all, Bit of a random one but do any Manchester/Derbyshire/South or West Yorkshire based Shiters fancy a meetup sometime in Glossop? I know it's not exactly a sprawling metropolis but it has a reasonably priced car park, a Wetherspoons, a caff, etc. Main reason for suggesting it is it's a nice drive in from most directions - over Holme Moss from the North or Snake Pass from Sheffield direction. The A624 from the south isn't too bad either. Something like a Thursday evening would be best for me but open to suggestions.
  13. Me and the crew popped down to the first meet of the season today at Ryhope pumping station. Weather was lovely and there was literally something for everyone. Have rather a lot of pics. Allegro on the way out as we went in.

    A47 Autojumble

It seems that the A47 auto jumbles would make for a good shiters meeting. Link at http://www.a47autojumble.co.uk/index.php The location is just west of Leicester so easy for M1 or M69 (via M6) access Both an autojumble and informal classic car gathering then anything that is pre-1987 gets in free. If you turn up in something new then it's only £3 and for those that are clearing out old parts the stalls seem very cheap as well Dates are MONDAY 05th MAY 2014 MONDAY 26th MAY 2014 MONDAY 25th AUGUST 2014 and I will be planning to go on the 26th May if anybody else is interested.

    Drive it Day

Drive it Day. http://www.fbhvc.co.uk/heritage-culture-and-museums/drive-it-day/ This might be pretty good. I'll be there with CCB, If you're taking anything, let me know and YOUR car could be famous.
  16. Hey, if any shiters are at a loose end this Sunday you could do worse than go to this. This fella has persuaded the council to cordon off the the Market Place for the day for a random array of old tat to park up. It's free for participants and spectators; I'm sure some interesting stuff will turn up if the weather's not too bad. I'll be there with a couple mates, plus associated wives/girlfriend, child and dog, but sadly no car as all ours are currently 'projects'. Last year: (Photos nicked from organiser's post on Practically Classics.)

  18. A show called Panshanger Revival held at North London Flying School. Flyer says that 'taster fights' will be available but not sure if you can get a trip in the old stuff though. Big Band all day.....apparently playing swing jive stuff
  19. Anything to look for on a 2001 Saab 93 2.0 turbo petrol, manual? I'm pretty sure they have the same shitty slave-cylinder-in-gearbox as the Vectra, but owt else to worry about? Thank you in advance, etc.

    Sunday Spannering

I am planning a general fixing the Datsun session on Sunday 1st June and am offering to make this an open session for shiters to meet, greet and help each other with any car niggles. The location is at my house in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The session to run from about 2pm to 6pm with people turning up / leaving as and when they want, there is a good pub with big carpark at the end of the road if that helps. I have enough space for two cars to be worked on in the front garden and will provide unlimited tea, coffee and cake plus access to any tools, ramps, axle stands I have. There is a large Halfords about 10 mins away for finding that they don't have exactly what you need on a Sunday afternoon but will have some gunk to bodge it with. So if you want an extra pair of hands for that niggly job, a second opinion of the cause of that strange burning smell or just want to laugh at me trying to find the loose wire in a 40 year old 260Z then show your interest below and I will PM you the exact location of the meet. I'll say that the current list of 'issues' is Carbs running rich Left indicators sticking on and not flashing Engine running cool Hole in the exhaust manifold gasket Rear lights not working, connected to dash lights not working A couple of indicator bulbs not working Rear demist not working Is that an aftermarket aircon unit in the passengers footwell? If not what is the extra switch on the dash for? Any progress in any area will make me fell better about the Beast as I have barely touched it this year. If the session works them maybe we can make it a semi-regular midlands event for car maintenance with a roving location. P.S. I have a load of bike tools and a decent bike stand as well, so if you want to mess about with your pedal powered shite then bring it along.
  21. Anyone up for a jaunt over to the Enfield BCA , much sucking of teeth and laughing at unlucky punters buying auction shite in that there Enfield will happen. Want to play 'spot the wannabe car dealer'? Work out your very own fantasy auction garage from the safety of a hard plastic seat. Pre-auction jaunt to a local cafe where fine quality bacon orientated products might be consumed (not by me sadly). Date: 24th March 2018, time: early'ish. Location: Enfield BCA, just on the A10, J25/M25.
  22. Dear friends, The first significant motorsports event of the year is drawing close. We decided to finally make this a fully fledged Autoshite event, with several people already having signalled interest. The details are as follows: 28th April 2018 - 15:30 Chesterton Stadium – Loomer Road Chesterton, Staffordshire, ST5 7LB We could meet beforehand for a sophisticated reduction of the inner diameter of our cardiovascular veins at the: Hungry Horse - Chatterley Whitfield Carsington Drive Brindley Village Tunstall, Staffordshire, ST6 5GA The suggested meeting time is 13:00, then set off to the racetrack at about 14:30, which would give us sufficient time to check out the sophisticated*,carefully* prepared racing bolides in all their pre race glory*. The event is notable for its all round friendly, fun and laid back atmosphere, so bring your mini yous along.

    Retromobile 2018

How does Retromobile compare to the NEC classic? I have been 3 times to the NEC and loved it every time. But thinking of giving it a miss this year and going to Retromobile instead. Good idea?
