Keep the cap off, bring the revs up and keep squeezing the bottom hose until the hose goes hot, then road test it keeping the revs up. Leave to go cold, then recheck the water level. Some cars can be a total shit to get the last bit out of.

I would re bleed the system, sounds like you have some air still trapped in it.

There's something really alurring about these Rebels and the Kittens, doesn't take much playing with to wipe the smile off the average boy racer either.

It's a stage 3 1550 with all steel bottom end, lightened and balanced, forged pistons, 244 cam to make it at least usable on the road and a pair of 40's.

And some more Tina..
Arches are amazingly solid

Yes, the once upon a time Magenta Dolly was pretty much as pink as the pics suggest! Was one hell of a car that, sat just right once lowered, sounded awesome with the stainless system too. I do miss it.
Projects? Hmmm the Mini was finished years ago and is with a new owner.
The Cortina doesn't really need much now, rest of the body going down to bare metal before painting back up and it needs a new n/s sill popping on. I've been slowly getting together the things I want for it like slot mags, a 1650 711m block, A6 cam, 40's etc but due to a few personal issues it got put on the back burner and the Anglia was bought. That was only meant to need minor welding so I was going to sort it and use as a daily, but as with all old shite, once you start pulling things apart you find all the old bodges hidden. I made a start with things but an operation which took me out of action all summer, coupled with rapidly failing health has meant it will have to wait until the weather improves and I'm feeling a bit better. I've also now found issues with the engine now I've actually ran it up to temp, so that'll have to be rebuilt too before the car can see the road again. I'm kinda disheartened by it as it isn't the car I thought it was and I lost my mojo a bit with it to the point I thought about breaking it, but I'm ok now and it still makes me smile when I look out the window or come home.
Some more pics..

As a temp measure you can wrap some PTFE tape around the plug, then refit being careful not to overtighten.

Just been scanning some old pics from the past 10 years of some of the shite I've had and I thought I'd share them.
1600e which I hated
This was done for a "worse paint" competition, it only came second!!
Hello Dolly! Can you see my 480 turbo hiding behind?
Bike shite
Rough Mk1 Cooper
with the ultimate tow car
Scirocco pussy magnet
Current shite
That'll do for now.

I'd love another Capri but with an Anglia and Mk1 Cortina already sat outside, I doubt the neighbours would be amused.

Rover Ron tuning boxes are highly regarded on the Rover forums, he puts a lot of research into them and they are proving more than reliable long term.

Wonder what you would do with this after you bought it? £5500 is an expensive lark.
Fireblade engine...

Silver car is a 1975 Colt Galant.

Oh there's some total meat heads on there... She's now dropped to £200

I'd say so too, or close to it. Pretty much scrap price. Will be a bargain for someone.

No text? Bugger. Heres what she put..
Hyundai Sonata gsi 2.0L automatic with overdrive, mot May 2012, was driven up until tax expired end of Oct 2011. Slight clicking noise from we believe the cv joints, otherwise a smooth and comfortable drive. Reluctant sale due to growing family.Open to offers or poss swap.
She's put it at £275 but she's desperate so she'll drop....

Just saw this and I know you love them...

Who agreed that they could hold the event is being looked into at the moment and the rugby club is sealed up for the time being. They did ask a few years ago for a display there and the expert refused to do it due to the close proximity to the M5. The pics available really distort just how close the rugby club actually is to the M5.
It was a damp night here, but the rain had stopped and visibility was pretty good apart from the spray you would expect on the motorway after rain. I just don't think anyone expected to drive in clear visibility and suddenly not be able to see a thing due to the smoke across the carriageway. The HGV's were mostly at the front of the crash so I can't see how there can be any finger pointing in their direction. I think it's too early to say and we may never know if a car exiting the slip road had any bearing on things. All I can say is that this has devastated our community, there has been and still is a huge feeling of sadness in the town.

Just a few things to add.
First of all, I saw this the other day about price fixing...

Secondly, personal injury.
I was hit in the side about 6 weeks ago in Sainsburys car park, silly old bat reckons she didn't see something the size of a Peugeot 806 and decided to reverse straight out, continuing to do so even though she met resistance! She tried blaming me as I "shouldn't be parked there", even though I was at a junction giving way to an oncoming car. I pointed out she was lucky it was an 806 and not a baby in a pram and politely informed her she shouldn't be driving if she couldn't see me, so she paid up. About 2 days after, I started getting neck pains and I've still got it now. Would I claim? No, I bloody wouldn't! I've always hated with a passion this American style compensation culture thats appeared, I don't want to add to it.
As for insurance prices, you really have to shop around. Few years back I gave the NFU a try and they're great. Recently I've moved house, so my car was no longer garaged. No extra charge. Changed car, no extra charge. Not even the industry standard £30 "admin fee". They even emailed my policy to my local office on the spot so I could tax my car same day.
My renewal came through and it was £20 dearer than last year. With the horror stories I've been hearing of peoples renewals being up to £700 dearer, I was mighty chuffed. Even so, I still find it a rip off.
I'm touching mid 40's now, never had a claim in my life, clean licence held for donkeys years but still my insurance is a tad over £200.
The same insurance on my modified Cortina, fully comp but with no no claims bonus added is £80 a year. At current market values, if the 806 was written off they'd pay maybe £2k. Cortina would be £6k.
How does that work?

Bears a striking resemblance to the one that sold at Barons the other day for £950....

Wasn't sure whether to put this in the bargains thread. Might be quite nice but

Probably quite near me if anyone really wants it looked at.
I did try to tell him he's wasting his fees, it's the second time he's put it on.
This is the reply I got....
"hi all so been selling mg for 25 years but not on ebay sold 4 this year so far seem 2 get the prie i wont in the end ta mark"

Cant decide if it's a Corsair or Mk4 Zephyr. I'm going Zephyr.

I'm just starting to think about security for the Cortina, because if they want it they'll have it these days. A cat1 or 2 would be useless on a car of that age so I'm starting to think the Tracker route. Thanks for the link.

complete with Stevie Wonder MOT by the seller
Haha I remember picking one of them up for £90 with T&T in that colour, had the alloys too. It had a speaker grill screwed to the outside of the drivers door to cover the gaping rust hole, used more oil than petrol and had a bent rear bumper where the lad I got it off decided to try to wheelspin away in first to impress some little girlies, forgetting that reverse actually lived where first normally would.
