25v6turbo Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 A friend of mine has a lovely original clio 16v(M reg)and he has a slight whisper of a blow between the manifold to downpipe, this is not a nice job to do,and the blow is really slight, has anyone used the high temp manifold wrap you can buy for a similar thing??,he would get high heat cable ties aswell.
Station Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Wrap it in aluminium foil and then put the heat wrap round.
mattblack Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 If it's not a nice job due to difficult access, won't it be a struggle to get the wrap/ties on? I fitted some cheap (ebay) wrap to the downpipes and front section of the exhaust on the Sceptre, as the exhaust is very close to the passenger floor, and with there being no sound deadening or carpet in at the minute it got pretty hot. Didn't make any difference as far as I could tell...
Renault18 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I've done worse jobs. I fitted a new downpipe to a 16v Clio about 12 years ago. Not bad to do, but an expensive bit of kit. Bit of a pisser that it was actually a missing stud and a missing piece of manifold that was causing the buzz in the first place.
