It's got almost a year's MOT, how bad can it be?

That Ebay one has a Discovery engine but a high turbo. (Disco's had the turbo mounted lower down) so I suspect it's either got a Defender turbo and manifolds fitted to a disco engine (doubtful as they are like rocking horse poo and not cheap) or, what most people do, used the turbo and manifolds off the old 2.5 TD engine. The manifold bolting arrangement is different and needs a shed loads of little brackets making to hold it on.....OKish if done properly but often isn't.

The price it went for isn't bad if it was all up together and tight but with the rear x-member on its' way out It would have sounded the alarm bells that you may have had some big bills ahead.

There's no doubt that old Landies are an utter money pit.....mine is a rather scruffy but sound '95 90" 300tdi station wagon sitting on a galvy chassis that I continue to spend money on but love to bits.....they sort of get under your skin but are a definite acquired taste.
