Station Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 A friend's K-series is demanding a lot of attention, and after changing the head last week and then pressurising the coolant system (again). There was only water in the system over winter (due to leaking water pump), so it just kept getting topped up until the coolant had no antifreeze left in it to stop it freezing, which it did, and I spent an hour or two trying to poke with a long stretch of wire, and then with a hairdryer down the pipes (which thawed it out in about 5 minutes). It started overheating which I now know is down to a cracked block/cylinder liner/something or other.I'll get round to changing the block, but just bought this £13 bottle of 500ml Wondarweld by Holts. I dismissed the prospect of Holts being the kings of snakeoil, and intend to chuck it in today, although the directions spiel put me off: Must not be used with any fluid (antifreeze, etc) in the system, only pure water,Must not be added to oil as it'll seize the oil pump, etc etc Has anyone used this, I'm not expecting miracles but it'd be nice if it just sealed the crack and made it drivable. Apparently works on 1.8 K-series, on their crappy damp liner problems. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s ... hp?t=36562
